The Association of Ancient Students of University Arts School of Coimbra is promoting a digital Festival for Digital Arts. It's hour goal to incentive creation on new supports, such internet, photography and video.
In the past ten years internet has been conquered by artists that seek new forms and new ways to promote their art.
This important and contemporary look, step forward on the search of new explorations of the medium internet: new forms of art arrive; internet art, web art, email art, flash art, all exploring new frontiers between technology and creativity.
With these new forms what could became art? Pure technology? Pure manipulation of digital forms? Pure concept?
And how can we present these new forms?
Internet has his specific medium and technology: a computer and a broadband. The monitor has became the idealistic way to present art work: it's more cheap and more close to the public. In certain way the public hon it. It could be appreciated by many people at the same time in every part of the globe. And for the artist isn't it fantastic! It's idyllic, far away from speculation and money...
Twenty artists from thirteen countries present twenty four works in several media: the most common, digital photography appears in first place, then the web site, then animation...
This is our first festival, and we hope to keep on going.
